Protomelas steveni Imperial Gome is endemic to the Gome area in Lake Malawi. They feed on growth, plankton and microorganism, thus they belong to the group of omnivorous eaters. When keeping them, you should pay attention to the correct ratio between males and females. Experience has shown that keeping them as a pair or in a colony of 1male/3female is feasible. Because the Protomelas Steveni Imperial Gome thrive in aquariums of 600 liters or more, with the length of the aquarium's sides at least 160 cm long. The substrate should be fine sand with large stones stacked to form a few caves and also serve as screens. For a balanced diet, granulated and frozen food are recommended.
