Copadichromis azureus are rather peaceful Haps preferring the open water, so a tank with plenty of swimming space is required. You will be rewarded with a stunning, shining blue fish with a hint of green in the head, compared to the rest of the body. Females are grey with three black spots typical of Copadichromis. This species prefers sandy parts of intermediate habitats, and occurs at depth below 10 m. Females and non-breeding males gather in small foraging groups while feeding on plankton. Males have been seen feeding on detritus on the bottom. The males builds bowers on a sand slope near rocky area at depth of 16-25 m. Bowers are circular or oval in shape with slight depression on the centre and a surrounding sand mound. These contain a stone usually at the deeper margin of the sand mound. The depression is usually deepest near the stone and spawning takes place at this deepest part.
