Nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus are found in the southern and western parts of lake Malawi. They are predatory fish and will eat anything that can fit in their mouths. They are an ambush predator and feeds on smaller cichlids. Their primary targets are juvenile mbuna. Like other Nimbochromis species, they should not be kept with small cichlids as they are piscivorous by nature. Females are smaller than males and a brownish colour, while males are larger and blue in colour.
