The Neon Tetra (Paracheirpus innesi) is one of the most iconic freshwater fish in the aquarium hobby. These tiny, vibrant fish are famous for the glowing blue horizontal stripe that runs across their bodies, making them look like swimming neon signs. In the wild, they are found in the "blackwater" streams of the Amazon basin in South America, where their bright colors help them find each other in dark, tea-colored water. It lives in waters with a temperature between 20 and 28 °C and pH 4–7.5 It has a preference for acidic blackwater streams, but also occurs in transparent clearwater streams. It grows to maximum overall lenght of 4cm.
