The red-rimmed melania (Melanoides tuberculata), also known as Malayan live bearing snails or Malaysian trumpet snails is a species of freshwater snail. but this species is very tolerant of brackish water as well. This snail feeds primarily on algae (microalgae) and detritus. They can quickly over-run your tank and some consider them as a pest snail. One of their biggest advantages are that they burry themselves in the substrate. they will emerge from the substrate during night.
