Australian rainbowfish are generally small to medium-sized, typically reaching lengths of 8 to 10 cm. Some species, like Melanotaenia vanheurni, can grow larger, up to 20 cm. Others, such as Sunset Dwarf Rainbowfish, are smaller, with a maximum size of 8cm
